As a researcher, writer and educator, Brown's area of expertise is ethical fashion, and her publications include the books Eco Fashion and ReFashioned for British publisher Laurence King, Chronicle Books in the US and translated into Spanish for Art Blume and Italian for Logos Publishing.

Dr. Sass Brown is the author and programme leader for Kingston University London’s MA in Sustainable Fashion: Business and Practices. She has a PhD on Global Artisanship and Models of Sustainable Development. Dr. Brown has served as the Founding Dean of the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation and was the Interim Dean for the School of Art & Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
